Topic Synopsis:
Project management has (an image) a problem. Despite decades of professionalization of project management practice, PMOs, guides, books, software, and certifications, we still see a high rate of project management challenges and failures. Being behind schedule or overbudget is often expected, tolerated, and accepted.
What are the root causes of failures, and what are the critical success factors. Why do we need to change and transform our practice? Why is it essential to shift our paradigms and seek the abilities and competence to predetermine success?
We will share the envisioned future as we propose the establishment of formal recognized project management function and division, going beyond the PMO-Box! A function led by a chief project officer with mandate to help with formulating the organizational strategy, execution the strategy through the 4PMs, and realizing visions!
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the current state of practice and challenges and fragmentation
- Learn about the five levels of the project management practice
- Recognize the need for transformation
- What do we mean by the project management function and division
- A suggested mandate of the project management division and CPO role
