PMI PgMP Exam Prep (5-Day In-Person Course)

Description:

The days of the monolithic, complex, multi-year project are over. They are just too hard to plan, manage and complete within expectations. The better approach is to break complex programs into multiple large, medium, and small sized projects. These smaller projects are easier to manage, and they each have a much better chance to be successful. Of course, if each project was managed independently, the entire program may be at risk of losing focus and getting out-of-control. A program is an organizational structure that is established to coordinate and guide a large or complex initiative made up of multiple related projects. The program provides an umbrella structure over the entire initiative and has the high-level visibility and continuity to guide all the underlying projects toward overall success.

The Project Management Institute (PMI) has developed a certification for program managers called the Program Manager Professional (PgMP®). This class prepares students to take the exam through a series of instructor lead discussions, key definitions, test tips and sample test questions.

Course Objectives:

1) Better understand the fundamentals of program management

2) Pass the PgMP® exam

3) The purpose of a program and how it provides value on large initiatives 

4) The four main program domains – alignment, benefits, stakeholders, and governance

5) The main components for delivering the program 

6) The work to successfully close a program

Schedule:

Five (5) consecutive days plus additional question and answer sessions scheduled with the participants after the course delivery.

Prerequisite:

1.    A secondary degree (high school diploma, associate degree, or the global equivalent)
2.    At least four (4) years or (6,000 hours) of project management experience
3.    Seven (7) years or (10,500 hours) of program management experience.

1.    A four (4) year degree (bachelor’s degree or the global equivalent)
2.    At least four (4) years or (6,000 hours) of project management experience.
