Chevron's "Reservoir Information Management" Awarded PMI-Houston Project of the Quarter – 2Q10
PMI Houston is pleased to award Chevron Mid-Continent Alaska with the Project of the Quarter in recognition for its “Reservoir Information Management” (RIM) program. RIM is an IT program managed by Ashish Trivedi with the goal of defining, developing and sustaining the information derived over the last 60 years from the Mid-Continent Alaska’s reservoir. RIM provided new processes, technology, and a governance model to reach and sustain its objectives. Mr. Trivedi and his team focused on four types of data that the reservoir community uses for key workflows: well master data, pressure survey data, rock and fluid data, and production injection data. They defined where the data should reside and what system of record would be the repository. The project succeeded where others had failed because of the team’s disciplined focus on scope and stakeholder involvement. The RIM program serves over 2,000 Chevron users throughout the world, not just in North America (mostly engineers, earth scientists, and technical staff).
The award was presented to the Chevron team at PMI Galleria Chapter meeting on May 12th. Mr. Trivedi accepted the award and spoke to the audience about the value of persistence, teamwork, and stripping a project's scope and objectives to its most fundamental components.

Past Winners of PMI Houston Project of the Quarter
Fluor Offshore Solutions British Gas Trinidad & Tobago Poinsettia Platform (1Q 2010). PMI Houston is proud to honor Fluor Offshore Solutions with the Project of the Quarter award in recognition for the "British Gas Trinidad and Tobago (BGTT) Poinsettia Platform" project. BGTT contracted Flour to lead a two-party consortium with J Ray McDermott (JRM) for total project execution of an offshore gas production platform. Flour engineered, procured, and fabricated the 4,000-ton platform topsides as well as overall project management, while JRM provided the platform jacket, along with transportation and installation services. Fluor assembled a strong integrated team, ensuring accountability and responsibility for project success. A unique arrangement was made with the BGTT commissioning manager whereby he was integrated into the project team and worked together with the completion and pre-commissioning forces toward overall project success and client satisfaction. The project adopted an integrated and consistent approach of project controls, extending to planning and scheduling, cost control, estimating and change management. The end result was a successful offshore hook-up and commissioning effort that exceeded schedule expectations.
