Pre-Meeting Presentation:

Scope Creep

Few and far between are projects that don’t encounter Scope Creep. It is one of the most basic obstacles (or opportunities) of Project Management. So often Project Managers get wrapped up in Earned Value Management, Gantt Charts, Project Progression Curves, and Milestone Gates that this silent predator sneaks up on the unwary and wreaks large scale havoc on even the smallest project.

Join Matt Morey, PMP as he explores the sources of Scope Creep and how a Project Manager can handle the inevitable when it happens.

Speaker: Matt Morey, PMP

Matt Morey is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) with InterMoor Incorporated. InterMoor is the leading mooring, foundations and subsea services provider delivering innovative solutions for rig moves, mooring services and offshore installation projects. Prior to this position, Matt was a Project Manager for National Oilwell Varco, a fortune 200 manufacturing company, and an officer in the United States Army, twice deployed to Iraq.

In his Project Management career, Matt has managed projects that include a series of 10 land drilling rigs worth roughly $9.5 million each, semi-submersible offshore rig packages worth over $75 million, the installation and management of a military communications network in Iraq, and the planning and execution of an event welcoming home the 4th Infantry Division from Iraq, with an estimated attendance of 65,000 people. Matt is an experienced presenter, speaking at various PMI and Toastmaster events. He earned his B.S. from Syracuse University where he majored in Business Administration and Information/Technology Management and is an Advanced Communicator Bronze with Toastmasters International.

Dinner Presentation:

When “business as usual” isn’t enough:

Authentic Leadership - Access to Breakthrough Results

This presentation will examine specifically what a shift from “business as usual” to creating a more authentic self In the “corporate world” might look like in practice; dealing with this shift offers the possibility for generating “breakthrough” business results. Research has shown an inevitable link to inauthentic behavior in the workplace and ineffective performance as well as burnout. Come learn the answer to the seemingly unanswerable question “How can I truly be authentic at work?”

Purpose: To develop leaders causing results not formerly thought possible.

Participants will leave with:

    1. Peace of mind and a new direction for accomplishing their goals
    2. Knowledge of the most effective - yet virtually unknown - strategy for creating change
    3. A new way of thinking about and dealing with obstacles impeding performance
    4. A foundation for further self-reflection and growth
